“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with
ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” (2
Corinthians 3:18).
That is freedom; being freed more and more from our selves,
into Christ-likeness. Christ-likeness is freedom from self.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the
Lord is, there is freedom…” (2 Corinthians 3:17).
The Spirit of the Lord, when He comes to live in us, breaks the chains to our old ways that tripped us up, removes the fear of death that causes so much personal dysfunction, and allows us to start over in life with Him. Jesus asks us to walk out from between the walls that imprison us into His love, mercy and grace; His freedom.
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John
8:36).
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are
in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set
me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:1-2).
