Why do we worship spiritual and religious authors and mystics, and, if we are honest with ourselves, do we extrapolate them onto God, or God onto them?

These thoughts are to grow my faith and walk with God. The narrow road, contrary to how it is often perceived, allows doubt and encourages sincere, open-minded inquiry, free of partisanship. Hence the reason God calls it narrow. "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
